Welcome to Hutchinson, one of Minnesota’s great small cities. When you think of characteristics that most people would look for in a model hometown, things that come to mind are friendly people, people who get involved in their community, a city that takes pride in its neighborhoods, a downtown that retains that small town feel, beautiful parks and recreation opportunities, good schools, quality health care, good jobs, a mix of local businesses that value knowing and servicing their customers, and a city that embraces its past while looking forward to its future. When you look around Hutchinson you will find that all right here, and more. That is why we like to call our city “Minnesota’s Hometown.” Hutchinson was founded in 1855 by John, Judson and Asa Hutchinson, who were also famed singers of their time. From establishing the second oldest park system in the country to their early recognition of women’s rights, the Hutchinson Brothers left the city with a legacy of progressiveness that lives on today. Evidence of that progressiveness is found in all facets of our community including education, health care, social services, industry, economic development, and government. Most importantly, the people of Hutchinson work together to make this a better place to live, work and play. Whether you are moving to Hutchinson or just visiting for the day we hope you enjoy your time here and experience that comfortable hometown feeling in “Minnesota’s Hometown.” If you are visiting, we hope you came back soon.
